In her 21st year, a young, enthusiastic Kelly Khumalo was discovered when she entered a Gospel Star search. Khumalo had been singing in church all her life until realizing that there is a bigger world out there. The pint-sized starlet was knocked out of the competition as the second runner up, but that didn`t` stop her, she was subsequently offered a lucrative record deal in 2004. Ten years since her first debut, Kelly Khumalo is now a household name, a SAMA nominee and a multi-talented super mom to her two beautiful kids. Kelly`s first language is isiZulu which she speaks fluently as she grew up in the rural outskirts of Nquthu in KZN. Though she was born in Katlehong, Kelly and her family moved to KZN during the riots, but she returned to Gauteng in 1997. As a youngster, Kelly grew up listening to Beyonce, Whitney Houston and Maria Carey who inspired her to pursue this passion. Her family was very involved in the Church, and she was very involved in praise and worship from a young age. In school, Kelly formed her own girl group, singing at assembly every chance she got!! Kelly Khumalo`s debut album, ?TKO? was released in August 2005 to much acclaim with the hit song ?Qinisela?. The album was nominated twice at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and she was the only female artist nominated in the Song of the Year category. The song was her biggest hit and remained on national radio charts for five months. Kelly Khumalo`s second album ?Itshitshi? was released at the end of 2006. The album was SAMA nominated as well as her third album titled ?Lobola?, with the title track being the hit on the album. The album was, again, SAMA nominated. Kelly Kumalo`s fourth album, titled ?Simply Kelly? showed a more mature artist who was growing in her craft. The album featured American songstress Syleena Johnson. The album was, yet again nominated for a SAMA. Her fifth album titled, The Past, The Present, The Future, was released in November 2012. RJ Benjamin is the main produce
